Superman And Batman United! Is It Really A Good Thing?

So, some more news from the grapevine, Superman and Batman will be sharing the big screen.

Yep. We kind of knew it was happening but I didn't expect it so soon, I figured we would have to wait till the Justice League movie but apparently Batman will make an appearance in the Man Of Steel sequel. Before I actually watched Man Of Steel this news would've excited me, but now I feel that they are clasping at straws. Warner Bros. are trying to compete with Marvel, and why the hell shouldn't they? Marvel have done well and Warner Bros. have both the storylines and resources to compete.

However, I know this was said before when Justice League was announced, it's just way too rushed. Marvel planned The Avengers in advanced, they had several movies build up to the movie, the individual movies feel like teasers to the main event. Everything was linked, there was so much intertextuality (perhaps too much) between the films it was ridiculous. It feels that Warner Bros. are just trying to put all their superheroes together and hope that it gains as much interest as Marvel's series. Also, I think it's completely the wrong time to do a Justice League film because of the floppage of The Green Lantern and the end of Nolan's Batman trilogy. It's way too soon to reboot the films, especially Batman, which was a massive commercial and critical success, and after Christian Bale's portrayal any new Bruce Wayne will most definitely be ridiculed.

I could be proven wrong though If Warner Bros. don't reboot the Batman series, if another person was to take on Batman's identity, say John Blake a.k.a Robin. The end of The Dark Knight Rises teased the audience, hinting at the possibility of him taking over from Bruce, and I think that's probably a better idea than having a brand new Bruce Wayne, we can have a character that we are familiar with and im assuming that most of us actually enjoyed. I think it could be a great way to keep the series alive, and I think it would link into the Man Of Steel sequel and Justice League movies better as we wouldn't have to go into the backstory of Batman. Again. Either have John Blake take over or give Christian Bale buckets of money because thats the only thing that would make it work. We don't need Man Of Steel 2 to be a mess as well do we?

And I don't know what to do about The Green Lantern. I guess you could reboot it, no one watched it anyway so people probably wouldn't even know its a reboot. Just don't have a completely new Batman. That's just stupidness.
