Listeners of The Dorks Deduction will already know this but I have a major thing for DVDs. My obsession with them runs so deep that I even have a spreadsheet to keep track of what they are and where they are. I also have a thing for spreadsheets but this is not the time to get into that (there will never be a time to get into that). I even know when the obsession with them started, I was 16 and researching for a piece of coursework I was doing for college so my father gave me £20 and I popped down to HMV. That day I owned my first 5 DVDs outright and it was an amazing feeling, I didn't have to share them with anyone. From then I always believed my adding to the collection was just because I was able to claim ownership over something but lately I've come to realise it's a lot more than that, the DVDs mean a lot more to me and not just items I possess. My emotional attachment to these inanimate objects has left me incredibly disappointed whenever I've purchased them within the last year.Labels

Is There A Place For Homosexuals In Cinema?
Wentworth Millar coming out as gay (seriously, didn't know that was a secret) made me pose this question and the most simple answer is yes. Unfortunately reading comments regarding him as well as other gay actors/actresses is ridiculously depressing because I see others are stuck in the middle ages and don't feel this way. I've read numerous comments saying that his career is now dead, he will no longer be able to play a romantic lead, how people will no longer watch his films ect. and its stifling. I don't think I've ever interacted with anyone so prejudice and I come from a conservative family, in fact one member actually made a disgusting comment about homosexuals and I have yet to speak to her since that incident.
They are actors, they play characters that a far removed from themselves. I don't understand why their sexual preference, something that is part of their personal lives should affect that, and for me it doesn't. As I mentioned before, I thought he was out already and that never affected my viewing of Prison Break and I had many friends that also watched the show, knowing full well his orientation and it made no difference to them. He was playing a character so his personal life didn't come into it for me. To the people that are saying he should never have played Michael Schofield I have a question for you, should any of those actors been given those roles because they had never broken out of prison? It's pretty much exactly the same thing as you saying that he can't play a straight guy because he's gay. Should these actors play fugitives when they aren't? I bet there would be an uproar if they had actually cast actors that were serial killers and child molesters on the show.

Nostalgia Time: Lovable Bears/Love 2 Love Bears
Anyone remember these?
I'm asking because I was having a discussion with a few friends about toys we used to play with when we were younger, and how they were better and a lot more fun than toys/games now. We all used to have a whole host of things including tamagotchi's, robots and we even discussed how much fun legos were. One thing that we discussed got us all a bit heated was the Lovable bears, also known as the Love 2 Love bears. They were small bears that doubled up as keyrings, they had noses that glowed and you could feed them with their bottles when they got hungry. Yes, they got hungry. Just talking about the bears made us all want one, it didn't matter that we're in our twenties and practically graduates! We searched all the corners of the internet for them, just so we could relive our sweet sweet youths! Our searches came up empty and we were left heartbroken, we were unable to get our bears.

A Few Days Ago A Friend Asked Me ‘How Can I Un-tan?’.
I'll tell you something, I’ve been
trying to get a tan for lets say about 7 years, and there’s no hope. No hope.
I’ve travelled to the hottest of places and indulged myself under the scorching
sun of the Middle East, it was of no use. So when a friend of mine asked me how
she can un-tan, all the pent up anger I had to being unable to walk around with
a nice caramel colour came out of my finger tips.
Not long ago I left my friends
back home and came to the UAE, which believe it or not, is a ghost town in the
mornings because of how hot it is. I, filled with anticipation to try again
what seemed to be an ongoing routine of failure, went to the beach to tan. 4
hours and 2 bottles of water later, I ran to the changing room mirror awaiting
to see my face, only to look like I pinched my cheeks for a minute or so.
It’s painful I tell you! But I
wont give up! I’m going back home to see my friends, WITH A TAN!
Await my caramel colour London!
And to that friend that asked me how she could un-tan, well here’s a tip, don’t
go under the sun!!!
Live long and blog!
Live long and blog!

Lynch's Big Dream
“We think
we understand the rules when we become adults, but what we really experience is
a narrowing of the imagination.” David Lynch couldn’t have said it better. In
this day and age everything seems to be against us and we forget how to stay
true to our core beings. We learn how to limit ourselves, give less, ask for
less, when in fact we all deserve the world. This is no ‘Learn how to stay
positive in 5 simple steps’ but I do believe that if we all managed to go back
and see everything through the eyes of the kids we were, the world would be an
easier place to inhabit. We would be fearless in the choices we make, the
things we say, the way we express ourselves.
